There are a number of group which meet in our buildings through the week. From church run groups including Bible Study, choir and of course, The Guild, to our uniformed organisations and line dancing, there's something for everyone!
Take a look at all that's on offer, and if you want to know more, fill in the contact form on this page, and we'll put you in touch with the right person.
The Guild
The Guild meets fortnightly at 7.30pm from September until March/April, and follows a three year themed cycle. There are six Projects within this time - from home and overeseas - for which we strive endlessly to raise monies. It is wonderful the difference that this makes to many of the people and volunteers involved with the Projects.
We have had speakers over the last few years talking about Trades House in Glasgow; Glasgow Cathedral; SCCA Scottish Charity Ambulance; Police Talk; Glasgow Boys Paintings; History of Stobhill to name but a few. We certainly try to have a varied programme throughout our session.
Choir
Our choir leads our congregation in singing every Sunday, with a wide range of hymns, anthems and introits from the 16th century through to the 21st century.
They meet at 7.30pm every Tuesday.
Friendship Group
The Friendship Group meets at 2.00pm-3.30pm fortnightly on alternate Tuesdays to the Guild.
You can drop in at any time bringing along your sewing, knitting or just yourself to have a cuppa
and a chat. All are welcome.
House Groups
SDMP has two house groups which meet through the year. Shalom and Westermains both meet on alternate Monday evenings. Westermains meets at the church, while Shalom has a rota of volunteers who welcome the group into their home.
What happens at our evenings? Normally a topic or Bible passage is selected and a discussion follows. There’s no requirement to have an Honours degree in Bible knowledge! We always enjoy refreshments when we meet.
All are welcome to both groups, so if you’d be interested in getting involved in some way, just ask! ‘Shalom’ means ‘peace’, so may the peace of God be with you always.
Art in Worship
Our Art in Worship team work through the year to decorate the sanctuary space for special seasons. Whether it's Harvest, Christmas, Easter and anything in between, you'll be sure to find an artistic feature of some description - most made from recycled materials.
If sewing, painting, drawing, crafting or anything else creative is your bag, there's a place for you on the Art in Worship team!
